RYAN MILLAR

Ryan Millar started improvising in Vancouver Canada in the late 90s. In the summer of 2003, he came to Amsterdam on a student exchange. While there ostensibly to study he landed a type of dream job: performing improv with Boom Chicago! at festivals, corporate events, and in Mexx storefronts all around the Netherlands. He also did some university stuff.

Ten years later Ryan returned to Amsterdam as an expat. He did some more work with Boom then too. These days he works as a coach, story trainer and communications consultant. He uses lots of improv tools to help people take control of the stage and light up a room. His most recent book, on the art of public speaking, is called “The Confident Presenter.”

Ten years later Ryan returned to Amsterdam as an expat. He did some more work with Boom then too. These days he works as a coach, story trainer and communications consultant in Amsterdam and around Europe. In all his work, he leans heavily on improv tools to help people take control of the stage and light up a room. His most recent book, on the art of public speaking, is called “The Confident Presenter.”

That first year of living in Amsterdam changed his life in two major ways: firstly by becoming a “Boom Chicago-style” performer: fast, funny, and high-energy. That’s still how he presents and teaches. Secondly, while studying abroad that year, Ryan met an Italian exchange student and fell in love. The two are now happily married with two little Canadian-Italian-Dutch(?) kids. In short, that year changed everything. Learn more at https://www.ryanmillar.com/
